Abstract. Various forms of nitrogen fertilizer were applied for cultivation of red cabbage, ‘Langendijker’ c.v.: control (unfertilized with nitrogen), Ca(NO3)2, (NH4)2SO4, NH4NO3, CO(NH2)2. Nitrogen treatment, irrespective of the applied fertilizer form, increased total yield of cabbage in comparison with the control. The highest N-total, K, Mg and Ca concentrations were found in heads of plants fertilized with Ca(NO3)2 and CO(NH2)2.

Summary
The experiments with field cultivation of red cabbage ‘Langendijker’ c.v. were conducted in 2003-2005 at Grębałów near Cracow. Plants fertilized with the following forms o nitrogen fertilizer were researched: 1 – control (non-fertilized with nitrogen, 2 – Ca(NO3)2, 3 – (NH4)2SO4, 4 – NH4NO3 and 5 – CO(NH2)2. Treatment with individual nitrogen forms caused an increase in yielding in comparison with the control ranging between 17.5 and 23.2%. In comparison with the control nitrogen fertilization raised the degree of plant nitrogen and potassium enrichment. The highest contents of N-total, K, Mg and Ca were registered in the heads of plants fertilized with Ca(NO3)2 and CO(NH2)2.
